P. K. Roy Memorial College

P. K. Roy Memorial College came into existence in the year 1960 to candle the light of knowledge in Koyalanchal, Dhanbad area by a philanthropist Roy family of Katrasgarh. Initially, a humble start, in the year 1977, the college became a constituent unit of Ranchi University and the teaching was up to honours degree in many subjects of Arts, Science and Commerce. Gradually the college grew and established its credentials among its stakeholders and in the year 1984 the college was given permission to start Post Graduate classes in some popular subjects.

P K Roy Memorial College is the most desired and favoured destination for higher education in this part of Jharkhand. The students of adjoining districts of West Bengal also come to P K Roy for their higher education. Established in 1960, the college is imparting education right from Memorial College Intermediate to postgraduation degree. Even many of the students are pursuing their research under the aegis of able and competent teachers of this college. In view of its popularity and quality education being imparted the Government of Jharkhand in the year 2017 declared the college as one of the Premier College of Jharkhand and gave substantial financial support to the college to improve its NAAC grade from B to A and achieve better ranking in the country.
